How to clean carbs & rejetting (Yamaha YX600 Radian)
Просмотров 7 тыс.5 лет назад
After replacing the factory airbox with individual podfilters the right way to compensate proper airflow/fuel mixture is by replacing the main- and pilot jets in your carburator. This video shows most steps in the process. The result is a much smoother running and more responsive engine. If you have issues with your air/fuel mixture after placing pod filters, this is absolutely the best way to ...

      @zelissen Год назад

      Depends on your guitar and the finish it has. Polyurethane is often thicker while Nitrocellulose lacquer might be thinner. Based on that you need to consider what works best. Either by heating or sanding. If you go with sanding, make sure you are able to do it carefully and evenly. My headstock was not damaged on the front so I left it untouched. Hope this helps and good luck!

    Nasty break , that one’s going to snap again with a vertical break like that. The crack looks like it may have gotten all the way to the fingerboard. You did the right thing in splining it but damn that was a really bad one 🤮. If it’s outta whack paint it black! If it ain’t right paint it white! It’s hard to break an epi one piece neck . So many tools... You just convinced me not to simply glue the head back on, but rather take it for a professional repair. But what will that job cost and for an '06 epiphone, is it worth that cost?

    • @zelissen
      @zelissen 2 года назад

      Hard to say. It depends on you and your skills. I'm not a pro, but I think that if you're quite handy and also passionate about the challenge, you should do it yourself! I rather spend my money on the investment of proper tools than pay someone to do it for me. Especially if it's an Epiphone. If it happens to your €3000+ Gibson you might consider bringing it to a pro.

    If I were you I would have had a rolled edge on the ends where you were painting to get a soft edge and not a straight line as it helps when you go to feather in the new finish to the old one. Other than that I thought it was great and very ingenious way of using the bungee cord to apply pressure to hold the headstock.

    Recently replaced all my old, cracked carb boots and rebuilt the carbs but was dumb and bought a cheap rebuild kit on eBay. Now it idles at around 4,000 rpm with the main adjustment all the way down. I think the pilot jets they gave me are too big. Hi, sorry for the late reply. I don't know the model number of the carbs. But it should be no problem to figure this out. Maybe you're able to find it through a manual on badrad600.com? Btw, why don't you try tighter pilot jets?

    • @zelissen
      @zelissen 3 года назад

      I'm from Europe, so unfortunately no. But I once had this problem. I was able to fix it by adjustment of the cable tension. If that doesn't help, you might want to try turning the throttle screw underneath your carbs (2:02). What this does is, when turned clockwise, it opens all 4 carb vales a bit further at the same time. Maybe yours is too wide open so fuel can still flow through, even when you close the throttle. Hope it helps. If not, let me know.

    What did you do with the Crankcase vent hose once you removed the airbox?

    • @zelissen

      I bought a longer piece of hose and curved it so it's facing down to the ground. Use a tiewrap to keep it in place. The opening is simply for venting, so that'll do.

      @@zelissen Thanks for the motivation! Hey, since I have you on here, I have a couple of questions for you, if that's cool. Did you have to tweak anything after the cleaning and upgrade? Did you back the fuel screws out 3 turns equally on each carb? And did you have to wrap the pod filters with anything for side wind? I keep reading about wind vortexes and crap.

    • @zelissen
      @zelissen 3 года назад

      @@wtbofnc7880 No problem, feel free to ask. I think that when you decide to actually upgrade or make any changes to your carbs you should already be assuming that tweaking afterwards is necessary. First I went with how it's described in the manual, like with the 3 turns out on each pilot screw etc. And I had no problems on my first rides. A bit of trouble came after riding longer distances. Happily I was able to solve this with some tweaking of the pilot screws and throttle screw. Adjust everything very carefully until the bike runs smooth. Another great tool to help with this is a color tune. It's basically a transparent spark plug that indicates whether you got too much air or fuel. If you got too much airflow, your air pod filters might be the problem. I never did any adjustments to my air filters. Although I think it's always the best choice to go with high quality ones. Hope this info helps!
